Fusion and jazz rock
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Genre
Fusion and jazz rock · Miles Davis listened to Jimi Hendrix, Sly and the Family Stone and James Brown, and played with electric instruments on In a Silent Way (1969) and, on Bitches Brew (1970), with several drummers at once. Fusion is the merging of jazz and rock, in which swing largely disappears. Steely Dan used jazz chords in pop songs, recorded with the best session musicians.
