Psychedelic rock
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Genre
Psychedelic rock · Around 1966 and 1967, bands drew inspiration from Indian music, the classical avant-garde and LSD. You hear drones, modal sounds and studio effects; the Beatles used tape loops and sounds played backwards. San Francisco, with the Summer of Love of 1967, and London were the centres.
Listening
Listening tip. In White Rabbit, hear the march rhythm that keeps getting louder, with a Spanish, Phrygian sound.
