Folk rock
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Genre
Folk rock · In folk rock, folk melodies are played on electric guitars. In 1965 The Byrds in Los Angeles played Dylan's Mr. Tambourine Man on a twelve-string electric guitar, and Dylan himself went electric that same year. It belonged to the hippies of the late 1960s; Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young brought the folk rock of California, with three and four voices in close harmony. From 2009 Mumford & Sons brought back the banjo and acoustic guitar, and a few years later they were playing arenas with them.
