Glam rock
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Genre
Glam rock · Around 1972 rock acquired a theatrical side: costumes, make-up and a stage persona became just as important as the music. David Bowie invented Ziggy Stardust, a rock star from space, and became that character on stage and off it. The New Romantics of around 1980 leaned heavily on glam rock.
