Glam metal and stadium rock

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Genre

Glam metal and stadium rock · After the launch of MTV in 1981, a rock band also had to look good. Glam metal combined hard rock with hairspray, make-up and tight trousers: pop songs in hard rock clothes, with choruses for stadiums. Bon Jovi and Van Halen scored big hits; in 1987 Guns N' Roses brought back the rawness.

Listening

Listening tip. Listen to Livin' on a Prayer for the guitar through a talk box and the key change in the final chorus.
