Fender Stratocaster

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Technology

Fender Stratocaster · In 1954 came the Stratocaster: a solid body with a rounded shape, three pickups and a tremolo arm with which you can make the pitch drop and spring back. By switching between the pickups, the same guitar sounds clear and glassy or warm and round. Buddy Holly made the Strat known in rock 'n' roll, Hank Marvin of The Shadows in Europe. Jimi Hendrix used the tremolo arm and feedback to make notes wail and dive. Since then, the Stratocaster has been one of the most copied guitars in the world.

Listening

Listening tip. Can you hear the clear, slightly glassy sound of the guitar, and somewhere a note that bends or drops?
