Bebop
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Genre
Bebop · In the early 1940s, young jazz musicians played jam sessions at Minton's Playhouse in Harlem after their work in the big bands. There bebop emerged: music for musicians, often at very fast tempos, sometimes above 250 bpm, with rapid chord changes and long solos. Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie were the pioneers; in Paris and Amsterdam it became the music of the artistic set.
