Punk
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Genre
Punk was the answer to rock that had become big, expensive and complicated: short, fast, loud songs with few chords and the idea that anyone can start a band. The Ramones played at the New York club CBGB; in London there were the Sex Pistols and The Clash. Bands released records on small labels and fans made fanzines.
