Prestige TV and streaming

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Genre

Prestige TV and streaming · Around 2000, cable channels such as HBO, and later streaming services, began making series with the budget and ambition of feature films. As a result, music gained more space and time. Bear McCreary gave Battlestar Galactica (2004) a score full of percussion and non-Western instruments. Ramin Djawadi, who learned his trade in Hans Zimmer's team, wrote a title theme for Game of Thrones (2011) for cello over a constantly repeated rhythm. Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein made Stranger Things (2016) with analogue synthesizers in the spirit of the 1980s. In Succession (2018), Nicholas Britell set classical piano and strings over a hip hop beat. Natalie Holt used the theremin in Loki (2021). Title music became the hallmark of a series once again.

Listening
