David Arnold

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Artist

David Arnold from Luton began with music for student films by the director Danny Cannon. He wrote his first big film scores for Roland Emmerich: Stargate (1994) and Independence Day (1996), with large orchestra, choir and heroic brass themes. In 1997 he made the album Shaken and Stirred, with new versions of Bond songs by pop artists. He was then asked to write Tomorrow Never Dies (1997). He became the Bond composer of his generation and wrote five Bond films, up to Quantum of Solace (2008). Arnold blends John Barry's brass sound with electronic beats. With Michael Price he wrote the music for the TV series Sherlock (2010).
