Shaken and Stirred: The David Arnold James Bond Project

Shaken and Stirred: The David Arnold James Bond Project · In 1997 David Arnold put this album together: a collection of covers of James Bond themes, sung and played by contemporary rock and electronica artists. It was released on East West in the United Kingdom and on Sire in the United States. After this project Arnold would go on to compose the music for several Bond films.

John Barry, the composer of many of the themes, was complimentary: Arnold stayed true to the melody and harmony but added fresh rhythms and interesting choices of artists. Thus David McAlmont sings Diamonds Are Forever and Arnold works with Propellerheads on On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Both tracks were released as singles in the United Kingdom. A version of You Only Live Twice with Björk was recorded but did not make the record. The album reached number eleven in the UK albums chart.
