Daft Punk
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Artist
Daft Punk was a French duo of Thomas Bangalter (1975) and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo (1974), formed in 1993 in Paris. With albums such as Homework (1997) and Discovery (2001) they helped to make French house big. Their work with film began with Interstella 5555 (2003), an animated film set to the music of Discovery. In 2006 they directed the experimental film Electroma themselves. For Tron: Legacy (2010) they wrote a full film score. It was recorded with an 85-piece orchestra at AIR Lyndhurst in London. Joseph Trapanese orchestrated and worked with the duo for two years. Synthesizer arpeggios and strings are closely interwoven in it. In the film they appear themselves, with their helmets, in the club End of Line. In 2021 the duo stopped.
