Industrial and electronic texture scores
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Genre
Industrial and electronic texture scores · Trent Reznor, founder of the industrial band Nine Inch Nails, and Atticus Ross began their collaboration with the director David Fincher in 2010 on The Social Network, for which they won an Oscar. They work with distorted synthesizers, piano, noise and sounds that are almost like sound design. After The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011) and Gone Girl (2014), they made the music for the Pixar film Soul (2020) with the jazz musician Jon Batiste. For Challengers (2024) they wrote driving techno. In 2010 the French duo Daft Punk gave Tron: Legacy a mixture of orchestra and electronics. In this way the difference between film score and electronic record becomes blurred.
