Radio

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Technology

Radio · In November 1920, the station KDKA in Pittsburgh began regular broadcasts; in The Hague, Hanso Idzerda had already been broadcasting music in 1919. In the 1920s, a radio set arrived in millions of living rooms. Music was suddenly free and could be heard everywhere at the same time. Big bands played live on the radio and in this way became known nationwide, and programmes such as the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville made country music a national genre. Anyone who got on the radio could reach a whole country in a single evening.
