The Song of Singing
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
The Song of Singing · The sessions took place in April 1970 and lasted two days. Blue Note released the album the following year. It is a trio session with Chick Corea on piano, Dave Holland on bass and Barry Altschul on drums. Together those three made up three quarters of Circle, an ensemble that played free jazz. Only Anthony Braxton is missing here.
On the same day, 7 April 1970, Miles Davis recorded the album Jack Johnson without the pianist. The 1987 CD reissue added two extra tracks, which had already appeared in the 1970s on Circling In and Circulus. In 1989 the last unreleased track from the sessions was added.
