Heathen Chemistry
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Heathen Chemistry, Oasis's fifth album, was released on 1 July 2002. The band recorded it between 2001 and early 2002 at Wheeler End Studios and Olympic Studios in London. It was the first record with guitarist Gem Archer and bassist Andy Bell, and the last with drummer Alan White. For the first time, people other than Noel Gallagher contributed seriously to the writing: Liam Gallagher supplied three songs, Bell and Archer one each.
The sound is simpler than on the psychedelic Standing on the Shoulder of Giants and less heavy than on Be Here Now, and is closer to the first two albums. The Hindu Times became a British number one. Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Little By Little/She Is Love and Songbird, Liam's first song as a writer, were also singles. The reviews were mixed. The album went straight to number one in Britain.
