Britpop
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Genre
Britpop · Around 1993 British bands deliberately chose a different direction from American grunge: back to the Beatles, The Kinks, The Who and the mods. In August 1995 Blur from London and Oasis from Manchester released a single on the same day. Blur won the battle for first place, Oasis the one for album sales.
Listening
Listening tip. Hear that Don't Look Back in Anger uses the chord sequence of Pachelbel's Canon and that the piano intro quotes Imagine.
