Don’t Believe the Truth
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Don’t Believe the Truth · Don't Believe the Truth, Oasis's sixth album, was released on 30 May 2005. The recording dragged on. In January 2004 a first session began at Sawmills Studios in Cornwall with Death in Vegas as producer, but the band was not satisfied with the result. Four songs from that session made the record after all, after extra work or new recordings. After a short break, the band recorded at their own Wheeler End Studios, with Noel Gallagher as producer and The Who's drummer Zak Starkey joining.
For the first time the work was divided among all the band members. Liam Gallagher wrote The Meaning of Soul, Gem Archer A Bell Will Ring. Lyla made it onto the record as the opening single, because the label heard no suitable first single. Critics were positive and called it the band's best record since (What's the Story) Morning Glory?. The album went straight to number one in Britain.
