Don’t Believe the Truth · Don't Believe the Truth, het zesde album van Oasis, kwam uit op 30 mei 2005. De opnames liepen lang. In januari 2004 begon een eerste sessie in Sawmills Studios in Cornwall met Death in Vegas als producer, maar de band was niet tevreden over het resultaat. Vier nummers uit die sessie haalden de plaat toch, na extra werk of nieuwe opnames. Na een korte pauze, nam de band op in de eigen Wheeler End Studios, met Noel Gallagher als producer en The Who-drummer Zak Starkey erbij.

Voor het eerst werd het werk verdeeld over alle bandleden. Liam Gallagher schreef The Meaning of Soul, Gem Archer A Bell Will Ring. Lyla kwam als openingssingle op de plaat, omdat het label geen geschikte eerste single hoorde. Critici waren positief en noemden het de beste plaat van de band sinds (What's the Story) Morning Glory?. Het album ging in Groot-Brittannië direct naar nummer één.
