High Hat
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
High Hat was released in 1989 and is a compilation of tracks from Boy George's second and third solo records in the United Kingdom and Europe, Tense Nervous Headache and Boyfriend. Together those albums had eighteen tracks. Tense Nervous Headache was withdrawn in Great Britain shortly after the first single owing to lack of interest, even though the year before he had topped the charts with Everything I Own. High Hat remained the only place to find his songs from 1988 and 1989.
Half of the ten tracks were singles that had little success, such as Don't Cry, Whisper and You Found Another Guy. Don't Take My Mind on a Trip became a club hit in Canada and the United States. The album reached number 126 there. AllMusic felt that as a soloist Boy George was aiming at a smaller audience, with barely disguised confessions over new jack swing rhythms.
