Stockholm pop (Max Martin)
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Genre
Stockholm pop (Max Martin) · In Cheiron Studio in Stockholm, from the mid-1990s Max Martin and his colleagues wrote and produced the hits of the Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC and Britney Spears. Martin works with 'melodic math': lines with the same number of syllables, well-singing vowels on the high notes and a hook that often returns. Later he wrote for Taylor Swift and The Weeknd, among others.
Listening
Listening tip. ...Baby One More Time opens with three heavy piano notes and then straight away the voice: the hook is in the first seconds.
