Headhunterz

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Artist

Headhunterz is the alias of Willem Rebergen, a Dutch DJ and producer, born on 12 September 1985 in Veenendaal. He became hooked on hardstyle in 2003 when he went to Qlimax with friends. With his friend Bobby van Putten he formed the duo Nasty D-Tuners, which won a Defqon.1 DJ competition in 2004. At the end of 2005 they signed to Scantraxx, and the first record under the name Headhunterz was released in 2006. Rebergen then continued solo and was given the sub-label Scantraxx Reloaded.

Music and breakthrough

In 2007 he made his first big anthem for Qlimax, The Power of the Mind. In 2008, with Wildstylez, came the album Project One, which helped determine the direction of hardstyle in the following years, with trance-like synthesizer melodies and heavily processed, pitched kicks. In 2013 he started the label HARD with STYLE and signed to the American Ultra Music. His own albums are Sacrifice from 2012 and The Return of Headhunterz from 2018. In 2017 he returned to the hardstyle scene, and in 2018 he and Wildstylez started the label Art of Creation.

Influence

Headhunterz has performed at festivals such as Defqon.1, Qlimax, Hard Bass, Electric Daisy Carnival and Tomorrowland. He is one of the faces who turned hardstyle from a Dutch club sound into an international festival genre. He also works as a voice actor.
