Brennan Heart

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Artist

Brennan Heart is the pseudonym of Fabian Bohn, a Dutch hardstyle DJ and producer, born in 1982 in Helden. In 2002 he began making music on the border of hardcore and hard trance, which developed into hardstyle. He did so at first as the duo Brennan & Heart with Pieter Heijnen, who later continued as DJ Thera. When the duo split after a little over three years, Bohn kept the name Brennan Heart.

Music and breakthrough

In 2006 he joined the label Scantraxx Records and under it set up his own sublabel M!D!FY. His first solo album, Musical Impressions, was released in 2009. Evolution of Style followed in 2014, I Am Hardstyle in 2016, ON DEMAND in 2017, Show Your True Colors in 2019 and Brennan Heart And Friends in 2020. In 2012 he started his own label, later called WE R Music, and in 2015 he launched the brand I AM HARDSTYLE at the Amsterdam Dance Event. He has performed at festivals such as Defqon.1 and Qlimax.

Influence

Hardstyle is built on hard, distorted bass drums, high synthesizer melodies and an arc of tension from build-up to release. Brennan Heart became one of the faces of that scene in the Netherlands, which he also shaped as a label boss and event organiser.
