Trance
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Genre
Trance arose around 1990 in Germany, above all in Frankfurt and Berlin: electronic dance music with long build-ups, floating synthesizer chords and melodies that keep returning. The Age of Love (1990) is regarded as one of the first tracks. DJs such as Sven Väth and Paul van Dyk made the genre big, and in the late 1990s trance became an export product in the Netherlands.
