Temptin’ Temptations

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Temptin’ Temptations · The Temptin' Temptations from 1965 is the group's third studio album on Gordy, Motown's label. Seven of the twelve tracks had previously been released as a single or B-side. On the singles from 1964, Eddie Kendricks sings the lead. I'll Be in Trouble was written and produced by Smokey Robinson; Girl (Why You Wanna Make Me Blue) is a production by Norman Whitfield.

In Since I Lost My Baby, a wistful ballad by Robinson and Pete Moore, David Ruffin sings about a world in which everything is fine except love. Don't Look Back, led by Paul Williams, was actually the original A-side of a single, became a hit on the R&B charts and closed the live shows for years. The song is now better known than My Baby.
