Actually
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Actually is Pet Shop Boys' second album and was released in September 1987. Part of the material dated from the duo's early years, such as It's a Sin from 1982 and Rent from 1984. The album was recorded at Sarm Studios and Advision Studios with several producers, including Julian Mendelsohn and Stephen Hague. Hague also worked on the duet with Dusty Springfield, What Have I Done to Deserve This?
It is a synth-pop album. Shopping began as a joke and became a serious song about privatisation under Margaret Thatcher. King's Cross describes the area around the station, and according to Neil Tennant the album can loosely be read as a critique of Thatcherism. On It Couldn't Happen Here, Ennio Morricone co-wrote and Angelo Badalamenti contributed an arrangement. It's a Sin and Heart reached number one in England. Actually is the group's best-selling album in the United Kingdom.
