Voice From the Past - Paradigm

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Voice From the Past - Paradigm · The American jazz bassist Gary Peacock recorded this album in August 1981. It was released a year later on ECM. It is a quartet with the saxophonist Jan Garbarek, the trumpeter Tomasz Stańko and the drummer Jack DeJohnette. Garbarek plays tenor and soprano saxophone. There are six pieces on it, from Voice From the Past to Ode For Tomten.

The AllMusic reviewer David R. Adler found the interplay between Peacock and DeJohnette particularly interesting, above all because it was recorded more than two years before Keith Jarrett's first standards record. He also wrote that he wished the horns sounded less tinny.
