Be Yourself Tonight

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Be Yourself Tonight is Eurythmics' fourth studio album, released on 29 April 1985 by RCA. It was recorded largely in Paris, with sessions in Detroit and Los Angeles. The duo left behind the experimental, synthesizer-based sound of earlier records for a pop and rock sound with influences from R&B and Motown, with a more traditional band line-up. David A. Stewart produced and received awards for it. Annie Lennox traded her androgynous look for a blonde rock 'n' roll look.

Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and Elvis Costello appear as guests. Four singles were released: Would I Lie to You?, There Must Be an Angel, Sisters Are Doin' It for Themselves and It's Alright. There Must Be an Angel became the duo's only British number one. No tour followed, because Lennox was recovering from nodules on her vocal cords.
