Touch

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Touch is the third studio album by Eurythmics, the British duo of Annie Lennox and David A. Stewart. It was released on 14 November 1983 on RCA Records. Stewart produced the record, with Jon Bavin as engineer. The duo recorded and mixed the album in about three weeks at The Church, their own studio in London. Dick Cuthell played trumpet and flugelhorn, and Dean Garcia bass. Michael Kamen wrote the string arrangements for the British Philharmonic Orchestra.

Touch is synth-pop with touches of new wave. The three singles, Who's That Girl?, Right by Your Side and Here Comes the Rain Again, all reached the British top ten. It became the duo's first number 1 album in the United Kingdom and reached number 7 on the Billboard 200. The album was certified platinum in the United Kingdom and the United States, and gold in the Netherlands. In 2012 Rolling Stone ranked it number 492 on its list of the 500 greatest albums.
