Nu metal

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Genre

Nu metal is metal combined with hip hop and electronics. Korn of Bakersfield released the first album in this style in 1994; around 2000 nu metal became popular. Linkin Park of Los Angeles had two vocalists: Chester Bennington sang and screamed, Mike Shinoda rapped. That rock was mixing with hip hop was a sign of what was to come.
