Joseph Haydn
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Artist
Joseph Haydn was for almost thirty years Kapellmeister to the Esterházy princes, far from the big city, with an orchestra of his own to experiment with. In this way, as he himself said, he was forced to become original. He gave the symphony and the string quartet their classical form. In his Symphony No. 94 from 1791, written for London, a sudden loud chord in the calm second movement startles the listener awake.
