Georg Friedrich Händel
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Artist
Georg Friedrich Händel came from Halle, learned the craft of opera in Italy and settled in London in 1712. There he wrote dozens of Italian operas, and when the public stayed away from them, he switched to the English-language oratorio. His Messiah had its premiere in Dublin in 1742 and has never left the repertoire since. He wrote the Water Music in 1717 for a boat trip by King George I on the Thames.
