You’re Gonna Get It!
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
You’re Gonna Get It! · The second album was released in May 1978 on Shelter Records. The working title was Terminal Romance. Tom Petty produced it together with Denny Cordell and Noah Shark, and Josh Kosh designed the sleeve. That year the album reached number 23 on the American chart, higher than its predecessor from 1976.
The press was mixed. Many reviewers thought it slightly inferior to the reasonably well-received debut, although Rolling Stone wrote of an impressive stylistic coherence between the two records. The newspaper The Globe and Mail called Petty a pop stylist who plainly repeats the musical and lyrical themes of pop as they were before country rock and disco swamped them.
