Third Album

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Third Album was released on 8 September 1970 on Motown. It was the Jackson 5's third studio album, produced by The Corporation and Hal Davis.

The most important song is I'll Be There, the group's fourth consecutive number one on the American pop chart. Mama's Pearl also became a big hit. The album also includes Goin' Back to Indiana, a semi-autobiographical song, and Darling Dear. The record stayed close to the familiar Motown sound and left just enough room for other influences. AllMusic gives the album four out of five stars. It is regarded as one of the group's best records. In 2001 it was released on CD together with Maybe Tomorrow.
