Sally Can’t Dance
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Sally Can’t Dance · Sally Can't Dance is Lou Reed's fourth solo album and was released in September 1974 by RCA Records. Steve Katz and Reed produced. It is the first solo record without songs that he had previously recorded with the Velvet Underground, and the first to be recorded in the United States. It remained his highest-charting album in America, reaching number 10.
N.Y. Stars is about imitators who copied his style. Kill Your Sons refers to his time in a psychiatric clinic as a teenager. On Billy, about a schoolmate with more normal ambitions, his old Velvet Underground bandmate Doug Yule plays bass. After Transformer, Berlin and Rock 'n' Roll Animal, the reviews were mostly negative, and Reed himself was dissatisfied with the production.
