Pieces of Me
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Pieces of Me · After a break in her career, Ledisi wanted to make a record that leaned on traditional rhythm and blues and stood out against contemporary pop. From late 2010 she recorded the album in studios in California, with Rex Rideout, Chuck Harmony and Claude Kelly and with writers she had not worked with before. The result sounds milder, with influences from funk, hip hop and soul. She called it her most personal album.
John Legend co-wrote I Miss You Now and Jaheim sings on Stay Together. The album was released in 2011, was received mostly well and was the first of her studio albums to reach the top ten of the Billboard 200. It was nominated for a Grammy for Best R&B Album.
