Untouchables
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Untouchables is the fifth studio album by the American nu metal band Korn and was released on 11 June 2002. The group began writing in early 2001. Tension between the members was rising, and so they worked for a time in Scottsdale, Arizona. Recording took place in Hollywood and Los Angeles, with Michael Beinhorn as producer and Andy Wallace as mixer. It was the first album recorded in 96 kHz digital sound. Because of the lengthy work, it cost about three million dollars. The drums alone took a month, with fifty microphones on the kit, and Jonathan Davis's vocals took months.
Here to Stay, the first single, won a Grammy. The album entered at number two on the Billboard 200 behind The Eminem Show. Davis blames the disappointing sales on piracy, because the album leaked months earlier. The reviews were favourable, and in 2021 Metal Hammer named it the group's best album.
