The Isaac Hayes Movement
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
The Isaac Hayes Movement · The Isaac Hayes Movement is Isaac Hayes's third studio album and was released in April 1970, as the successor to Hot Buttered Soul. The name comes from Marvell Thomas, who named the backing group after the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Like the previous record, the album has only four long tracks with extended orchestral arrangements, this time all covers of other people's work. I Stand Accused by Jerry Butler begins with a spoken introduction of almost five minutes, and on Something by The Beatles John Blair plays violin.
The album spent seven weeks at the top of the soul albums chart and reached number 8 on the Billboard 200.
