To Be Continued
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
...To Be Continued is Isaac Hayes's fourth studio album. It was released in 1970 on Enterprise, the Stax label. On earlier records he had already covered songs by Burt Bacharach and Hal David: Walk On By on Hot Buttered Soul and I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself on The Isaac Hayes Movement.
This album also features a Bacharach and David song, namely The Look of Love. A shortened version was released as a single and reached number 79 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album itself did better: it topped the Billboard charts for Black Albums and Jazz Albums and reached number 11 on the Billboard 200.
Listening
Listening tip. In The Look of Love, listen to how a well-known song by Burt Bacharach and Hal David sounds in a version of its own here: which parts do you recognise from the original song, and what is different?
