Kiln House
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Kiln House is Fleetwood Mac's fourth studio album, released on 18 September 1970 on Reprise Records. It was the first record after the departure of founder Peter Green. The remaining members moved, with wives, children and road managers, to the English countryside, to a converted oast house for drying hops, which gave the record its name. In two weeks they recorded the album at De Lane Lea Studios. Christine McVie, then still Christine Perfect, took part, but was not allowed under contract to be credited as a musician.
Jeremy Spencer played a much bigger role than on the previous album. His humorous tribute to the 1950s, influenced by rockabilly and Sun Records, dominates the record. In addition, Danny Kirwan's songs are almost as prominent. Buddy's Song mentions titles by Buddy Holly, and Blood on the Floor parodies country and western.
