Love to Love You Baby

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Love to Love You Baby is Donna Summer's second album and the first to be released internationally, on 27 August 1975. In the summer of 1974 she came to Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte with an idea for a song. Moroder wanted to develop a new disco sound and turned it into a distinctly sensual disco track. The label Casablanca asked for a version of almost twenty minutes, and it came to seventeen. That filled the whole of the first side of the record. With the stomping bass drum, Moroder and Bellotte laid the foundation for Eurodisco.

The title song reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 in early 1976, although some radio stations did not play it because of its explicit content. The second side had more soul and R&B, with the ballads Full of Emptiness and Whispering Waves.
