Lady of the Night

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work

Lady of the Night is the debut album of the singer Donna Summer and was released on 26 February 1974 in the Netherlands, on Groovy Records. In 1973 she sang backing vocals on an album by Three Dog Night. In the studio she met the songwriters and producers Pete Bellotte and Giorgio Moroder, who saw her talent and offered her a record of her own. Bellotte produced, and together with Moroder he wrote almost the whole repertoire.

Most of the songs are pop and folk pop. The singles The Hostage and Lady of the Night became minor hits in the Netherlands. The Hostage reached the top three in Belgium and Spain, Lady of the Night the top ten in Austria. The album itself did not make any chart.

Listening
