Cuts Like a Knife
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Cuts Like a Knife is Bryan Adams's third studio album. He made it together with Bob Clearmountain, at Little Mountain Sound Studios in Vancouver. Recording ran from 13 August to 20 October 1982. Clearmountain mixed the record in Quebec and New York. In January 1983 the album was released on A&M Records.
Three singles brought Adams great fame: Straight from the Heart, the title track and This Time. Straight from the Heart is a ballad written by Eric Kagna, to which Adams added the instrumental bridge. It was the last song to be recorded. The video for Cuts Like a Knife was shown heavily on MTV in 1983 and contributed to the success. The album reached number eight on the American chart, went triple platinum in Canada and platinum in the United States. Outside North America it only became successful after Reckless.
