Reckless
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Reckless was released on 5 November 1984, the day Bryan Adams turned twenty-five. As with the previous record, he produced the album himself together with Bob Clearmountain. Heaven was the first song to be recorded. It had been written earlier for the film A Night in Heaven and at first seemed too light for the album. In March 1984 the sessions began in Vancouver, together with songwriting partner Jim Vallance.
By August nine songs were finished, but Adams was not satisfied. His manager asked: where is the rock? Adams and Vallance then re-recorded One Night Love Affair and Summer of '69 and wrote Kids Wanna Rock. Six singles reached the American top twenty, and the album ultimately went to number one. It was the first Canadian record to sell more than a million copies in its home country. Kerrang! chose it as album of the year for 1985, and it won a Juno Award.
