From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Work
Post · After Debut, Björk lived in London and wanted to make a tougher, more outward-looking album. In late 1994 she began at Compass Point Studios in the Bahamas, where she stood in the sea at sunset to record vocals. She produced it herself, together with Nellee Hooper, Graham Massey and Tricky, among others. Army of Me and The Modern Things she had already written earlier. Back in London she tinkered on for months and re-recorded tracks, until real instruments brought the album to life.
The result is a colourful mixture of techno, trip hop, house, jazz and experimental music. Isobel has strings on breakbeats, It's Oh So Quiet is a big band number and Headphones closes quietly with studio tricks meant for headphones. Post was released in June 1995 and reached second place in the United Kingdom. Critics praised the ambition and found the record timeless.
