From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Genre

Dutch and Flemish film music · In the Netherlands and Flanders, the feature film acquired a face of its own from the 1960s. In 1966 the director André Delvaux and the composer Frédéric Devreese began their collaboration with De man die zijn haar kort liet knippen. The arranger and composer Rogier van Otterloo worked with Paul Verhoeven on Turks Fruit (1973) and Soldaat van Oranje (1977). He combined a large string orchestra with jazz soloists, such as the harmonica player Toots Thielemans in Turks Fruit. The Flemish conductor and composer Dirk Brossé wrote a romantic orchestral score for Stijn Coninx's Daens (1992). Verhoeven later worked with the British composer Anne Dudley on Zwartboek (2006). Melody and light music play a large role.
