Frédéric Devreese
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Artist
Frédéric Devreese was a Belgian composer and conductor, son of the composer Godfried Devreese. He studied in Mechelen, Brussels and Rome and worked for a long time at the Belgian broadcasting organisation. His most important film work was done for the director André Delvaux, the founder of Belgian magical realism. That began with De man die zijn haar kort liet knippen (1966) and continued with Un soir, un train (1968), Benvenuta (1983) and L'oeuvre au noir (1988). Devreese wrote lyrical, tonal orchestral music with dance forms such as the waltz, tango and habanera. His music helps to create Delvaux's dreamlike atmosphere, in which reality and imagination run into one another.
