Kraftwerk and the man-machine

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Genre

Kraftwerk and the man-machine · Kraftwerk was founded in Düsseldorf in 1970 and left guitar and drum kit behind for synthesizers, electronic drums and the vocoder. Autobahn (1974) opens with a 22-minute track about a drive along the motorway; Trans-Europe Express (1977) sounds like wheels on rails. The influence extended to hip hop in New York and techno in Detroit.

Listening

Listening tip. Listen to Trans-Europe Express for the tight rhythm without swing, like a train on the rails.
