Kleinkunst

From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Genre

Kleinkunst is the Dutch-language song from cabaret and theatre, with the lyrics at the centre and a small accompaniment; in the 1950s Wim Sonneveld, Toon Hermans and Jules de Corte were the big names. Around 1965 that tradition shifted towards pop, when Boudewijn de Groot sang songs to lyrics by Lennaert Nijgh, inspired by American folk and Bob Dylan. In the 1980s Klein Orkest brought kleinkunst to a pop band.
