Reinier Baas
From HitStory, the pop encyclopedia of School of Rock · Artist
The guitarist Reinier Baas studied at the Amsterdam conservatoire. His albums were given titles such as More Socially Relevant Jazz Music (2011) and Smooth Jazz Apocalypse (2014). Baas often collaborates with young Dutch and foreign musicians, such as the saxophonist Ben van Gelder, and plays both acoustic jazz and experimental music. His pieces often have funny titles and surprising twists. He belongs to a generation that learned jazz at the conservatoire and that blends it with pop, rock and contemporary composed music. He is one of the best-known guitarists of the new Dutch jazz.
